Casa Juan Diego Monthly Meals

On the fourth Saturday of every month, St. Theresa parish provides a meal for the women and children of Casa Juan Diego. Over the past year, a varied menu has been developed. We have volunteers who provide the sides to go along with the main course.

Each volunteer is asked to make one side dish. The number of residents can vary between 20 and 40 people. If you are not comfortable cooking for 40, you can let us know, and we can get another volunteer to help. We ask that you bring the side dish to the refrigerator in the Fellowship Hall, cooked and ready for reheating and packed for transit on Friday before noon. This is the day prior to the fourth Saturday.

If the volunteer wishes to be reimbursed for expenses, that is not a problem. Many choose to donate their time as well as the cost of the food. 

We hope to get enough volunteers so that no volunteer is asked to prepare a dish more than twice in a calendar year, unless wishing to do so. If you belong to another group at St. Theresa and would like your team to volunteer for a particular month just let us know.

This ministry is so important in helping to serve our brothers and sisters in Christ with a basic need: food. The Catholic Workers and residents at Casa Juan Diego are so appreciative of the help. It is truly heartwarming, and our volunteers get as much in return as they give.
