Language Arts
The language art program fully acknowledges and addresses the many aspects of a strong early childhood curriculum. Oral language development, early literacy skills, the love of literature.
Spanish
Repetition and physical interaction are the keys to learning at this age. Young students have the opportunity to develop listening and speaking skills. Students learn Spanish through games, music, lively activities and puppets. Basic vocabulary is introduced through rhymes and chants. Spanish class is offered once a week.
Math
The mathematics program enables pre-k students to learn more mathematical content and become life-long mathematical thinkers. The program contains the study of attributes, sorting, position, shapes, numbers, patterns, measurement, and data.
Science
The science program includes Life Science, Physical Science, and Earth Science. Some activities include simple investigations of the five senses, different seasons, scientific words, and objects as living or nonliving. The studies of plant and animal life cycles, as well as the study of rocks, soil, and water are included.
Social Studies
The social studies program covers individual and community culture, history, geography and economic concepts. The program will include name, gender, age, town, past and current events, categorize time intervals using words, identifying common features in the home and school environment.
Religion
The religion program helps young children to lay a positive foundation for faith formation as they grow and develop spiritually. The concepts allow young children to explore the Catholic faith while growing stronger in their relationship with God, family, and the Church community.
Technology
Students become familiar with computers, computer parts and basic computer knowledge. The students use of educational software reinforces the language arts, math and reading programs.Social developmentEach of the above subjects is approached with age appropriate methods that enhance self –esteem by giving the child choices which build self-confidence through creative play and thematically based instruction.
Gross Motor
The program is designed to promote good overall fitness. The activities are designed to improve coordination and being aware of different body movements.
