My Dear Parishioners:
The St. Theresa Church & School Auction/Gala, themed “Mardi Gras in the Park”, has a rich tradition of community, fun and fundraising that benefits our church and school. This event is the largest fundraiser for our parish.
Since many of our new parish members are not familiar with this event, we have listed FAQs below:
What is Mardi Gras in the Park?
For many years, the St. Theresa community, with the leadership of many wonderful long time parishioners, has organized a night of fun and fundraising benefiting both our church and school. For the past several years, the event has been held during Mardi Gras.
What happens at Mardi Gras on the Park?
The Community Center is uniquely transformed for a catered dinner with an open bar (wine and beer). There is a large Silent Auction, a Big Board, a Live Auction, Zydeco Music and plenty of time and room for dancing. Festive attire, and Mardi Gras masks and hats are encouraged!
How does the parish benefit?
Individuals and business entities who buy tables, buy individual seating, provide underwriting, and donate auction items may choose to direct their tax deductible donation to the church, our school or both (each donation form has a designation option). Simply, the more donations and the more auction items solicited by parishioners and school parents, the more money we raise.
When is the 2010 Mardi Gras in the Park?
Saturday, February 6, 2010, beginning at 6 p.m.
What are the ways to be involved?
Ø Buy a Table. Underwriter tables, seating 10, are available for $5,000, $2,500 and $1,500. The best deal is a table of ten for $800. An individual admission is $100. Since tables usually sell out, we encourage guests to put together groups to buy tables and to buy them early!
Ø Solicit Auction Items. Restaurant and spa gift certificates; vacation homes, golf packages, and hunting trips...use your imagination!
Ø Volunteer. “Mardi Gras in the Park” is organized and operated entirely by volunteers. We need volunteers for, among other things, set up on the Friday before the event, silent auction monitors during the event, and for clean up on Sunday.
I want to help—who do I contact?
Auction donation and table purchase forms are available from the church, school office and online at www.sttheresa.cc (click on “Organizations”, then “Auction Committee”). If you would like to volunteer to work the event, please leave your name, email, and phone number with Susan or Gary Truax at 713.660.8997 or srtruax@sbcglobal.net.
Thank you to all who have attended and volunteered to help in the past and we whole heartedly extend an invitation to our parishioners to attend and enjoy an evening that combines the serious business of fundraising with the fun and enjoyment of Mardi Gras!
