"Society ensures social justice when it provides the conditions that allow associations or individuals to obtain what is their due, according to their nature and their vocation. Social justice is linked to the common good and the exercise of authority." (Catechism of the Catholic Church)
The Church seeks to proclaim the Gospels with her social teachings and to make them present in the complex network of social relations. It is not simply a matter reaching out to man in society, but of enriching and permeating society itself with the Gospel. With her social doctrine, the Church aims “at helping man on the path of salvation”. This is her primary and sole purpose. (The Holy See)
Saint Theresa Parishioners join in the Social Justice concerns that touch our city, state and country in several ways. The Christian Community Service Center (CCSC) ,of which St. Theresa is a member, exists in many churchs for the primary purpose to serve the poor, hungry, homebound disabled and otherwise needy while respecting their religious, ethnic or cultural differences. On the parish level dedicated parishioners volunteer from Saint Theresa and Saint Cecilia Churches to manage service through the Little Flower Thrift Shop located on Washington Avenue. Through these ministries those in need find clothing, food and ways to handle financial burdens.
