A TRIBUTE TO MARY
A Rosary Garden dedicated to the Blessed Mother was held April 3, 2008 at Saint Theresa Church in Memorial Park in memory of several parishioners. The garden, located next to the Church, surrounds an Elm tree which was planted to honor two former students, Pam Slade and Lillian Mock, who attended Saint Theresa School but who died early in life. A “walking rosary” has been built around the tree with large stepping stones as markers for each prayer. Two flowing fountains and a gravel walkway mark the stones of each decade with a beautiful statue of the Blessed Mother mid-way in the rosary garden. A statue representing the Holy Spirit and given in honor of the mother of Gregg Haas is located in the area of the Third Glorious Mystery, The Descent of the Holy Spirit. The Walking Rosary was built in memory of parishioner and former Knight of Columbus, Council 12866, Fred Lero. The garden is a visible invitation to pray.
On this memorable occasion, the ceremony was led by pastor Father Philip Lloyd. The Lero family and a student representative lead the first recitation of the garden rosary.
Monsignor Bill Pickard, Johanna Bransford as well as many parishioners, members of the Knights of Columbus, the student choir led by Bridget Wenk, teachers, office staff and members of the Women’s Club also participated in reciting the rosary.
The family of Fred Lero, wife Pat Lero, daughters Cheryl and Michele as well as the parents of both deceased students, Julia and Daniel Slade, daughters Tammy and Rhonda, and Louise Mock, mother of Lillian Mock were present.
After the ceremony, all were hosted by eighth grade students to refreshments and all enjoyed a short visit with friends.
The Rosary Garden is an invitation for all to visit with Our Lady at Saint Theresa Church.
