Fr. Phil Lloyd was born in 1954 in Shropshire England. At eighteen he went to the seminary and was ordained a priest in 1978. For nine years he worked in urban parishes in the diocese of Shrewsbury. He then joined a small community of priests and brothers, the servants of the Paraclete. The order was founded in America over fifty years ago to serve the needs of priest and brothers experiencing psychological and spiritual problems in their vocation. While there he trained in the field of chemical addiction.
After three years with the servants he worked for the next ten years in the field of addiction, in day programs and in men's prison, as well as for the National Health Service and in residential settings.
In January 2001 he came to the United States and worked in Saint Vincent De Paul Parish near the medical center. He was incardinated into the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston in 2002 and for the next three years he served at St. Laurence Parish in Sugar Land.
In February 2006 Father Philip P. Lloyd was appointed administrator here at St. Theresa Church. It is usual when one is assigned a parish for the first time, that the first year he is known as the Administrator of the parish. In 2007 Father Phil was named pastor of Saint Theresa Church.
Deacon Larry Vaclavik, a native Houstonian, is a son of St. Theresa parish having attended St. Theresa School, worked in the Church Office and served as a pastoral council member when a teenager. Deacon Larry is one of four children of St. Theresa parishioners, Charles and Henrietta Vaclavik. Today, Deacon Larry and Liz, loving spouses for 28 years, are parents of their own four grown children - Alex, Jude, Max and Kateri.
During his college years, Deacon Larry spent three years as a seminarian at St. Mary’s Seminary and the Theological College in Washington, DC. After leaving the seminary Deacon Larry completed four degrees: a BA in Philosophy from the University of St. Thomas followed by a M.A. in Philosophy from The Catholic University of America, a B.A. in Pastoral Theology from the University of St. Thomas and finally, a Master of Arts in Theology from the University of St. Thomas. Deacon Larry was ordained to the diaconate on June 4, 1994.
Today, Deacon Larry is a principal and partner of The Dini Partners, consultants in non-profit management and fundraising services. As a deacon he is assigned to the Archdiocesan Office of the Diaconate as the Associate Director of the Diaconate responsible for the spiritual formation of those studying to become deacons and their wives. Also, Larry serves as an adjunct lecturer at the University of St. Thomas School of Theology at St. Mary’s Seminary in philosophy, moral teachings, social teachings of the Church and the teachings of the Early Church Fathers. In addition, Deacon Larry is assigned to minister at St. Theresa parish where he assists with a variety of ministries.
Deacon Larry and Liz, as husband and wife, enjoy movies, quiet evenings and long walks when they are not involved in their respective ministries as a deacon and nurse and as father and mother.
Deacon Antonio Moya
Deacon Rodolfo Cerda, is a permanent deacon at Saint Theresa Parish. He has been married to his wife Idolinda for 41 years. Together they have raised four children, 3 boys and a girl. They have four grandchildren. Rodolfo has been a member of the Saint Theresa Community for 29 years and has served in various ministries. As a deacon his primary service to the Hispanic community is through the sacraments, visitations to the sick, assistant at Masses and leadership roles at Saint Theresa.
Rodolfo and Idolinda are members of “El Movimiento Familiar Cristiano”, the Christian Family Movement. This organization works with married couples. They like working with couples and have been a part of this organization for 30 years. Because it helps promote family unity, they want to help others be better husbands, wives, and great parents. Rodolfo and Idolinda are here to serve.
